Update first month fulltime..

Its been awhile...At the end of Sept i decided to go fulltime, so far so good...well minus volume. In my first month i played like 430 games avg stake $71 for a profit of $4,400....Not bad, but i really need to work on volume and getting games in...some days after i get up like 300 ill just quit, when i should be continuing the grind. I think the most games i played in a single day all month was something like 44, which is a lot for me but everytime i play that many games its bc im chasing losses...but whatever im fine with my first mo...

Nov so far has been going well...130 games up 1.6k....i set a new most games in a day record this month...one day i played 62 games obv only made 180...i also final tabled a mtt gtfo. I have been playing a few low stakes mtts throughout the week while grinding hu...def not something i want to get more involved in, but doesnt hurt to have one running while grinding...

August went ok....

323 games avg stake $75 profit like 2.1k.....i am completely out of my 3k downswing....im leaving for vacation tonight, not sure if i will be playing at all while i am gone. If so maybe a game or two here and there, but for the most part i just want to chill out....also i have decided to go full time, with my last day of work being 9/24 yoo....just a quick update

Decision time: Fulltime or not???

Since i have very few real life poker playing friends i want to get input, thoughts, and advice from you husngers and pros on this....

Let me lay it out for you:
I have 2 bachelor degrees..i was working as an assistant restaurant manager and began to HATE it, so my friend got me the job i am currently at now...the only reason i took it was just to get out of the restaurant bc i hated it so much, and was going to stay there until i finished my 2nd degree, well thats done now...i have been there for 2 years in August. I make absolute shit for money $11.50/hr, and have not gotten a raise yet bc our company got sued so all raises have been frozen. I discovered online poker in Jan 2009 and have worked my way up to the $100 husngs playing part time....i am really beginning to hate my current job, plus the pay is dick, and they are starting to pull and jerk me around...

Ok now the question should i go fulltime or not?? here are my stats at the 50 and 100 level so far

$50- 1,163 games played, $6/game, 11%roi

$100- 1,359 games played, $11/game, 10%roi

Right now i have about 13k in the bank and a 10.5k poker bankroll....for about the past 7 or 8 months i have made more in poker playing 200-250 games a month than i have at my job....some months only by a few hundred, some by 2k, and few by 4-5k.....if i go pro i plan on opening 2 more accounts with my bank 1 for tax money, and 1 for personal retirement money that i will deposit into every month... i just recently started 2 tabling, and obv hit a downswing so i really dont have a good sample at tabling as of yet....

Please provide some insight on this for me...all comments are welcome....

also, to any pros regarding health insurance....how much is a personal health insurance plan if you get it on your own?? im healthy and havent been to the doctors in years...just wondering...

After the second half of last month and the first half of this month, poker is testing my mental. I just cannot get anything going...every bluff gets picked off, card dead, coolers, set ups, and when i do get a monster the maniacs im playing snap fold...feels great. So far this month i have played 173 games with a -3% roi, which a big difference from my usual 10-11%...i feel i have dealt with this run OK, not great or as well as i would like to be dealing with it. I have tilted off a few buyins here and there, berated a decent amount, and feel i have went into auto pilot mode some of the times, which is not good in hu. I have also let this bad run kind of put me in a bad mood outside of poker as well...i need to work on this...it doesnt happen too often, but i need to figure out how to control this better, so that im not constantly thinking about my recent results...because right now my confidence is close to being completely shot...

Anyway im setting a goal to not berate a single time the rest of the month...in reality me berating a fish and having them not respond just tilts me more, and its just stupid to do...like say after going off on a fish for making several bad plays..and i somehow end up winning and they type GG...it just makes me feel like shit knowing that they are down 20k, i just talked shit on them, they lost and still say gg...not cool, very unprofessional, and i need to fix this...other than that i would be happy with any profit this month...i guess on a positive note im on track for platinum star for the 2nd month in a row, so i guess that is a goal as well....

May was fucking annoying...although i did play 332 games, reaching my goal of 300, my profit was only 1.6k. I played 277 $100s, 52 $50s, and went 2-0 in my first two 200s of my career. The month started off well being up like 1.4k after my first 125 games, and that is pretty much where it stopped. Over the next 25 games i had dropped all of that, and was back to 0 profit on the month. Over the next 75 games i ran it up to 1.2k then back down in a matter of about 15 games...got back to 1.6k then broke even for the last 75 games of the month....so yeah fuck May...

Overall it felt like i didnt run well, and several days i loaded my HH's into pokermeterluck and my results were 0%. F it though, it goes both ways and works out in the end, so looking too much into stuff like that is pointless, however it does provide some sense of relief/confirmation for me so whatever.

So far my lifetime results at the 100 level are:

Games played: 1,279
Profit per game: $12
ROI: 11%
Total profit: $14,705

Although i think that is getting to be an OK sample, i feel i might want to at least play 2k games at this level before moving up. I told myself i wanted to get a legit sample at the 100s, because coming up through the levels i have never really done that...i think the most ive played at a level was like 500 games...well except the 50s which i still play when games are dead. Enough about poker...waitin on a heaterrr

Memorial day weekend was pretty fun. Friday night went to a camp fire and drank all night. Saturday i had to go to a bday party with my gf, then went to a friends to watch the UFC fights. I got into fly fishing about 3 years ago, but did not even get my license or fish 1 time last year, so i figured i would change that this year. Earlier last week i got a new fly rod and reel, and Sunday i got my license and some other necessities. My gf and I then headed to one of her grandparents houses that sits right on a world class trout stream. Where i live we are surrounded my numerous world class streams, so i have kinda been into fishing my whole life. Anyway, so we drank, fished, cooked some steaks on the grill, and just relaxed all day...i need to knock some rust off on my fly fishin game though....Monday i woke up and went golfing at 12:30 with some friends..it was hot as shit, but still good to get out...im working on a new swing so we will see how that works out...ok done rambling...peace

So far May has gone well...in the first week i played 88 games for +$1200...I didnt get to play any yesterday, ended up going to my gf's grandparents for a Mother's day cookout..thickass fillet and a bunch of other food, as well as 98754 bottles of wine, which is always good...

This weekend was pretty uneventful..no golf because the weather was too cold. Saturday night i went to my friends place and watched the UFC fights. I had a bet with one of my friends on the Machida fight and he lost for the first time in his career which is beat, otherwise the fights were pretty good... Kimbo pretty much got embarrassed again, and i read earlier that Dana White has given him his walking papers, so no more UFC for the internet sensation...he needs to get back to beating ass in the backyard i guess. Im sure he will get picked up by someone else if he chooses to do so...

Anyway thats all i got for now....on pace to get in 300 games this month as of now lol sick...

April Results...May start...

April went pretty well for the amount of games i got in. As mentioned earlier, i usually average between 200-300 games a month due to having a full time job. I feel that i ran about average overall in April, and was able to handle tilt really well this month, which is something that i have been trying to focus on. Dont get me wrong i do not have serious tilt issues, such as breaking shit or anything like that, but i definitely can get pretty f pissed off at times, which no matter if you feel/believe it or not, affects your game and decision making.

One day this month i set a new career record playing a whopping 34 games...for a profit of $7. Anytime i put in more than 15 games in a day which is not very often, it seems my profits are minimal....possible leak somehwere. Another leak i have that seems to be common is playing a lot when losing trying to get back to even, and not playing enough when winning. I really need to work on this over the next few months.

I was supposed to go golfing on Saturday, but didnt because the person i was going with got sick, so i decided to grind. May started off with me beating the record of 34 games in a day, playing 38 and ending the day -$120 that was a grind, but i was sitting outside at the gf's in the nice weather, drinking the whole time and mostly single tabling so it wasnt too stressful. Yesterday i put in 7 games for like $250-300...in May im hoping to get in atleast 300 games (think i have played more than 300 like once ever) and let the profit follow...gl at the tables

Here we go...
I am a recent college grad (2nd time) first was a Bachelors degree in Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Management from Penn State, and the second being a Bachelors degree in Information Technology from Western Governors University.....anyway.....I'm a HUSNG poker player under the name M00seKnckle on Pokerstars. I started playing online poker in January 2009, with no prior experience to the game at all. I started out clueless, playing $13 6man SNG's, then moved to 9man SNG's, and finally after reading a HUsng pros blog, contacting him with some basic questions and becoming inspired I ended up in HUsngs by the middle of February 09. With my bankroll sitting at $39, I began my head up journey with 7 buyins, single tabling the $5 regular speed games. At this time i had stumbled across 2+2, and to this day have been reading the hunl sub-forum daily.

Here is where i learned about bankroll management, which i believe to be a vital part of my success to this point. I decided i wanted to play it safe and abide by the 40 buyin rule, meaning i must have 40 buyins for the next level before i would move up. Religiously sticking by this plan, i was able to move my way up through each level to where i am today. Today i play at the $100 level, with hopes of moving up in the near future. I have been playing way over rolled at this level for a long time, and usually have 50+ buyins for the next level in my roll, but want to get a decent sample size at this level before making what is rumored to be one of the hardest jumps in HUsngs. Having a full time job limits the amount of volume i get in, which is killing me because i feel like im burning money only averaging 200-300 games a month, but whatever....so yeah the significant sample size is taking a little while...i currently have played 988 games at the $100 level with a 13%ROI.

I was not around for the online poker boom, but am hopeful there will be another someday...Regulation of online poker in the US...One time.

Anyway, thats my brief intro. I hope to update this blog weekly...now i gotta get some people linked to this bitch.
